In a rapid fire Q&A session we sat with Impact Group, Premier Sponsor of the National Retirement Living Summit and Awards to see what challenges and trends they are facing in the retirement living sector and what they are most looking forward to for the year ahead.
Can you tell us about the services that Impact Group provides for the retirement living sector?
Impact Group is your consultancy partner that provides expert technical advice for the full life-cycle of developing your property assets. We act as your development advisor, representative and co-ordinator from early due diligence on a site (including acquisition advice), masterplanning, preparing concept plans to meet current market expectations, design co-ordination, Council and Service Authority liaison, contract preparation, procurement of builder and administration of the contract during construction works. We are pro-active in development risk identification to ensure it is mitigated early and hence avoid unexpected surprises and costs.
What trends and challenges are you seeing from your clients in the retirement living sector?
The greatest challenge today is navigating through a COVID environment. Heightened stakeholder management skills are needed during the design and planning approval stages and strong co-ordination skills are required to ensure productivity and quality of finishes during construction.
There are also growing trends towards continuum of care and in-home care. Retirement Villages need to accommodate this growing trend to stay relevant in the market.
What is Impact Group as a company, looking forward to the most in 2021/22?
We are looking forward to the continued confidence in the residential sector enabling people to afford the transition to retirement living and the many positives that brings to their lifestyle. Today’s retirement accommodation is such quality and value-for-money. The retirement living product and service continues to evolve and we are excited to be at the forefront of this evolution.
Which speaker(s) are you most excited to hear from at the National Retirement Living Summit?
Looking forward to Mark Bindon of Oak Tree Group and Derek McMillan of Centennial Living discussing the “state of investment”. And always love listening to Tony Massaro of PWC sharing the outcomes of the Retirement Census.
