Dr Graham Wilkinson

OWNER & DIRECTOR, GENERUS LIVING GROUP
PRESIDENT, NZ RETIREMENT LIVING ASSOCIATION

PropertyCouncil_Headshots_GrahamWilkinson

Graham has been involved with the retirement industry since 1994 when he purchased a partially developed village at Whangaparaoa. A decade later, he purchased four additional retirement villages in Auckland and the Bay of Plenty and subsequently sold all five to a listed Australian entity.

In 2010, Generus commenced development on the luxury sector of retirement villages and has completed or is currently developing The Russley and Holly Lea in Christchurch, Pacific Coast and Pacific Lakes in the Bay of Plenty, Ranfurly Village and The Foundation, in Auckland. The Foundation is New Zealand’s most upscale village in the Parnell area and while construction was delayed due to Covid and only recently commenced, over $80,000,000 of unit sales have already been secured. Generus has developed a model of partnering with charities or iwi, who own premium land the villages are situated on.

Graham’s interests also include hotel ownership throughout New Zealand, and he has focused on bringing a high level of hospitality into his villages. He believes the retirement village market is becoming more segmented and sophisticated while most development occurs in the economy market, reducing competition for his products.

He is the longest serving member of the NZ Retirement Villages Executive having served on it for over 20 years, the last six as President.
