Owner & Director Generus Living Group Chair NZ Retirement Village Association
Graham has been involved with the retirement industry since 1994 when he purchased a partially developed village at Whangaparaoa. A decade later, he purchased four additional retirement villages in Auckland and the Bay of Plenty and subsequently sold all five to a listed Australian entity.
In 2010, Generus commenced development on the luxury sector of retirement villages and has completed or is currently developing The Russley and Holly Lea in Christchurch, Pacific Coast and Pacific Lakes in the Bay of Plenty and Ranfurly Village in Auckland. Some villages are in partnership with a charity or iwi, who have owned land the villages are situated on. This year he concluded a partnership with a substantial New Zealand Charity to build New Zealand's first six-star village in Parnell Auckland.
Graham’s interests include hotel ownership throughout New Zealand, and he has focused on bringing a high level of hospitality into his villages. He believes the retirement village market is becoming more segmented and sophisticated while most development occurs in the economy market, reducing competition for his products.
He is the longest serving member of the NZ Retirement Villages Executive having served on it for over 20 years, the last four as President.
